"Alarming" new research has shown that three-quarters of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are having difficulty accessing financial services.
The report, released Wednesday May 29 by the First Nations Foundation and the Centre for Social Impact, examines the financial resilience of Indigenous people.
The study reveals that financial literacy in indigenous communities that has to improve. Financial institutions must also make an effort to better understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The report authors hope their recommendations are taken seriously by the Government as well as financial institutions.
