"Acknowledging documented massacres of Aboriginal people should be part of Australia Day rituals." - Cr Dick Gross, Mayor of Port Phillip.
Cr Dick Gross, the Mayor of Port Phillip, suggests introducing in January 26 rituals an acknowledgement of all the wrongs done to Indigenous people.
The most important aspect of his proposal is that all documented massacres of Aboriginal people should be recited during Australia Day commemorations.
Dick Gross believes, if introduced, these changes can make Australia Day more palatable to First Nations people.
