Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been briefed on reports Iran has attacked at least two Iraqi military bases hosting United States and coalition troops.
Iran has launched more than a dozen surface-to-air missiles against the Al-Assad air base in western Iraq and at the Irbil base.
It comes after dozens of people in Iran were killed in a stampede during a funeral procession for Qasem Soleimani, the top general killed in a United States strike last week.
