Jessica Storrar chose to study at JCU in far North Queensland, far from her home, because of this university's strength on Indigenous health and its close proximity to remote Indigenous communities.
Jessica wants to work in remote Indigenous communities, when she finishes her studies, in order to improve their health outcomes and close the gap.
Jessica Storrar says she is prepared to serve her community and be an ambassador for her people.
Community Sector Banking Indigenous Scholarship Program supports Indigenous students who are making a difference in their communities while pursuing Vocational or Higher Education.
This year, there were six Community Sector Banking scholarship recipients from First Nations communities across Australia undertaking studies in various fields including nursing, midwifery, auto electrical technology and media production.
