How to kick-off the festive season in Koorie style with a Very Koorie Krismas.


Koorie Krismas will come to Federation Square, Melbourne, on Sunday 8th of  December. The all-day family friendly event is an initiative of the Koorie Heritage Trust.

Koorie Krismas activities revolve around the Koorie Krismas Market showcasing craft and design from the Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Tom Mosby, CEO of the Koorie Heritage Trust, says one of the day's highlights is Koorie Klaus. He is very popular with the kids. Koorie Klaus will make a special appearance at Federation Square this Sunday at 3.30pm.

There will be a range of free workshops for kids and families throughout the day including performances from singer-songwriter Wergaia and Wemba Wemba woman Alice Skye; Carissa Watts, Yorta Yorta Dja Dja Wurrung singer songwriter; Djirri Djirri Dance Group and IHHP (Indigenous Hip Hop Projects).

Those looking for a unique Xmas gift will be able to stroll the Koorie Krismas Market from 11am-till 4pm where they can buy exclusive Koorie Krismas gifts including jewellery, hand woven baskets, artwork, clothes, native bush products and much more.

Featured stalls include:  Haus of Dizzy; Gammin Threads; Miss Emily Aboriginal Arts; Karroong Craft; Yarn Strong Sista; and shopKOORIE along with many others.
