The first Indigenous woman from the Northern territory has made it to the Miss World Australia Final.
Magnolia Maminydjama Maymuru is from the community of Yirkalla, north east Arnhem land in the Northern Territory.
Magnolia has Yolnu Matha and English as her main languages and has just completed a certificate in Business Administration.
She was chosen on the basis of her commitment to completing her High School education before she entered the world of modeling.
Her discipline in completing her High School education gave her the strength to continue her studies and wait to start her career as a fashion model.
Magnolia and her manager Mahali are travelling across Australia to introduce her to the public through so people can learn who she is.
Magnolia wants to be a voice for her people and all Australians.
One of the most unique qualities of Magnolia is that she is strong in abiding to her cultural law and won't wear Indigenous designed garments unless she goes through the protocols and permission process with her elders and of the designers elders first.
Magnolia says this is something she has to wait for as she continues her modeling journey.
