[MIS]CONCEIVE  the debut  length dance-theatre work  produced by young Bundjalung, Wiradjuri man Thomas E.S. Kelly was performed as part of the Next Wave Festival 2016. Kelly told Living Black Radio that the aim of the work was to address misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding Aboriginal Australia.  He said that the response to the performance had been overwhelming, with Indigenous and non-Indigenous approaching him with tears in their eyes.

Georgie Meagher, Artistic Director: of the Next Wave Festival told Living Black Radio;

[MIS]CONCEIVE was a festival stand—and should have been compulsory viewing. It was subtle and beautiful, with traversed so many issues – there were AFL references, and hoodies up, referencing Trayvon Martin and the #blacklivesmatter movement.  I cannot wait to see what Thomas does next.
