National Association for the Visual Arts newest board member Wiradjuri conceptual Artist Amala Groom, aims to work as a strong advocate for the development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander narratives, accurate history and practices of cultural art into NAVA.

Amala Groom is the first Indigenous visual arts representative director of the board, Her voice on the NAVA board will be a very important one to ensure this progress continues to grow and delivers.

"We need to have face to face support and we need to have political, cultural and economic autonomy across our industry, we need to be running targeted programs that train up people in our communities so we can effectivly regain control of our own market". - Amala Groom
