An opportunity is now open for leaders in the not-for-profit sector to go on a study trip anywhere in the world.

Leaders from the not-for-profit sector are encouraged to apply for two Community Sector Banking and Churchill Trust Fellowships that will allow them to go on a study trip in a county of their choosing.

The objective is to allow successful applicants to learn best practices in the not-for profit sector overseas and bring back this knowledge to serve their community and the country.

Fellows are funded to travel internationally for a period of 4 to 8 weeks. One of the Fellowships is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.

Andrew Cairns, CEO of Community Sector Banking says, “In addition to sharing their findings broadly with the Australian not-for-profit sector, on returning as Churchill Fellows they will be offered a variety of engagement opportunities.”

He adds that these engagements include invitations to present their findings at board meetings, conferences, and other networking events.

Andrew Cairns also explains that more than ever, there is a need to identify the issues and challenges facing contemporary and future not-for-profit leaders, including leadership skills that the sector should invest in for success.

According to the Australian Charities Report 2016 the not-for-profit sector is a $142 billion industry and employs more than 10% of the Australian workforce.

Applications for the Fellowships open on February the 1st.
