Australia is going to see a worse level of Stolen Generations unless governments change the way they approach child placements and supporting families to get well.

That's the opinion of Rachel Atkinson from the Secretariat of Aboriginal and Islander Child care - SNAICC - on the latest Native Title and Social Justice reports released by the Human Rights Commission.

SNAICC recognises that while the last 25 years have seen some important steps towards the realisation of rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, progress towards the realisation of rights remains stalled in man area - in regress.

SNAICC's Rachel Atkinson says that despite the national adoption of an 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle', 47.4 per cent of Indigenous children are placed with non-Indigenous carers.
