Tarnanthi 2021, the flagship program of the Art Gallery of South Australia is launching at the AGSA and in venues across South Australia on October 15. This year, the event also features an online component reaching a global audience.

Tarnanthi 2021, the flagship program of the Art Gallery of South Australia is launching at the AGSA and in venues across South Australia on October 15. This year, the event also features an online component reaching a global audience.


Tarnanthi is an annual celebration of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA).

The Tarnanthi Art fair, a component of Tarnanthi brings together 50 art centres with works of more than 1400 artists combining traditional techniques with contemporary practice. 

Nici Cumpston OAM, Tarnanthi Artistic Director says that the Tarnanthi Art Fair is a celebration of the diversity and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.

“This year, we’re thrilled to present the art fair as an online event, giving people across the world the opportunity to bring these stories into their homes and be reminded every day of the deep history that our nation holds,’ Nici Cumpston also said.

The Tarnanthi Art Fair runs online from 5pm Friday October 15 till 9pm on Monday October 18, 2021. The festival itself will run until January 30, 2022.
