Precious Tasmanian Aboriginal ochred hand stencils have been destroyed by vandals. Adam Thompson from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre spoke to Living Black Radio saying he was very disappointed and angry at the most recent destruction and said that so much could have been done to protect the site. He said that the Government has had opportunities to change the Aboriginal Relics Act to make the penalties for destruction a lot harsher and in line with white Heritage Acts. He also says that involving Aboriginal people in management and giving Aboriginal people ownership of their own heritage would be a step forward. Listen to the interview to find out more.
