Episode 12 was a three way conversation between lawyers Matthew Karakoulakis and Kristine Daw and myself talking about tenders and how they are a major source of opportunities for Indigenous businesses.

Government tenders provide a good stream of business opportunities in general and Indigenous businesses in particular as they offer a platform to all participantsto have a fair go.

Furthermore, there is a successful government policy designed to develop Indigenous participation in public tenders: Indigenous Procurement Policy.

Kristine Daw explained that the tender process can be daunting.  Luckily, she said, there are tools and resources to help entrepreneurs navigate the tender process.

Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) provides support to businesses and guides them through public tender application processes as well as relevant administrative mechanisms.

Besides the IBA, independent legal firms run regular workshops and provide useful support as well.
