Till recently Bill Onus was best known as a champion boomerang thrower, a performer, and respected Aboriginal civil rights activist notably as the first Indigenous President of the Aborigines Advancement League. A recently released documentary, Ablaze, reveals another facet to his extraordinary life as the first Aboriginal filmmaker.


Directed by Tiriki Onus and Alec Morgan, 'Ablaze' premiered online at the 2021 Melbourne International Film Festival.

A special screening of this feature length documentary will be held on Tuesday February 15 at the Footscray Community Arts followed by a QA session with Tiriki and Alec.
