For the first time ever in Victoria - Aboriginal artists in jail will be able to sell their artworks.


Facilitiated by the Koorie organisation The Torch, which encourages First Nations offenders to learn more about their history and culture, and express that creatively.

The Torch Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community Program uses arts practice and culture in the rehabilitative process for Indigenous offenders.

The Victorian Government announced an extraordinary Aboriginal Arts Policy Model that will assist incarcerated Indigenous men and women to reintegrate back into the community.

Michelle Lovegrove spoke with Torch CEO Kent Morris about the fruits of 40 years of advocacy.

The Torch's seventh annual CONFINED exhibition is now on at the St Kilda Town Hall Gallery until the ninth of March 2016.
