The Wurdi Youang Indigenous Protected Areas are managed by the Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative. The country, land and sea needs protecting and new growth to maintain cultural heritage and restoration of the future. Grasslands are one food source on country that is being protected through the use of cultural burns and seed collection.
