Selected as a finalist for the Wandjuk Marika Memorial 3D Award in the 2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA), Lower Southern Arrernte artist Jennifer Kemarre Martiniello OAM translates ancestral lineage and place into masterfully blown glass.
Created with gaffer Annette Blair, her finalist work, My heritage hu: Chinese Gardens at Hookeys Waterhole (2025), uses hot blown glass and handcrafted murrine to form silk cocoon-like shapes.
The piece honours her grandfather’s historical garden near Oodnadatta and her grandmother Mini Bell, celebrating resilience, DNA memory, and the vibrant synthesis of family, landscape, and identity.
