Evelyn Araluen will co-host the official opening event of the Blak and Bright festival at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne (06/09/2019).

Blak and Bright First Nations Literary Festival returns between Thursday the 5th to Sunday the 8th of September. In the opening event, co-hosts Evelyn Araluen and Daniel Browning will discuss and review some of the latest and greatest Blak books.

This year’s Blak and Bright's program is sure to smash all expectations with more than 60 Blak storytellers including award winning and up and rising writers, playwrights, spoken word artists, comedians, Blakacademics, philosophers and many more.

Participants will discuss topics ranging from children’s stories and history through to poetry and the more serious topics around Treaty talks, Aboriginal Philosophies as well as healing.

“This  is a fantastic opportunity to reflect on this amazing increasing publishing, and this amazing opportunity for Aboriginal writers to get their work out there and have a moment to talk about, and celebrate not just the wonder of writing Aboriginal work but also getting to read it,” Evelyn Araluen said in our conversation.
