Two-hundred and two people, including 88 Australians, died in the bombings on October 12, 2002 outside a pair of nightclubs, at the same site as the memorial, in the busy tourist area of Kuta.
On 12 October , 2002, the Bali bombings killed 202 people including 88 Australians.
