A truck collided with a car in Wyndham Vale in Melbourne's outer west on Monday night, leaving a 10-year-old girl with serious injuries.
The girl was one of four members of an Indian family injured in the collision at Ballan Road around 9:30 pm.
“Car hit us while waiting for the signal at jubilee [a nearby estate]. My daughter and wife are still critical at this stage. Please pray for them,” Chakri Morisetty wrote on a local Facebook community page.
Police say the family’s Mitsubishi Outlander was turning right into a lane in Manor Lakes when a tip truck and trailer smashed into the rear of the stationary vehicle.
The 10-year-old girl and a 5-year-old child were taken to Royal Children’s Hospital and a man and a woman were taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The girl is said to be in a serious but stable condition now.
A number of emergency vehicles arrived at the scene of the crash and a helicopter ambulance also arrived there. Ballan Road was temporarily closed for traffic after the crash.
The truck driver stopped at the crash scene and is assisting the police.
The local community members have offered assistance to the family.
