An 18-year-old man was shot dead for stealing corn cobs from a farm in Punjab (India).
Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Ferozepur district, was allegedly shot at by a farmer after he was spotted plucking corn cobs from his field.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but it was too late. He was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors.
Sukhdev’s friend Jatinder was with him at the time of the incident.
“I and Sukhdev plucked a few corn cobs. The farmer slapped me, and fired at Sukhdev who was trying to run away,” said Jatinder.
The accused has been identified as Kulbir Singh, a village headman, who is on the run after the incident.
Police have registered a murder case against him and raids are being conducted to arrest him.
