SBS Punjabi had run an online giveaway and had promised that four lucky members of our audience will receive double passes to watch the acclaimed film The Furnace in the cinemas.
Entries closed earlier this week and many participants sent their reasons for why they'd like to watch the film.
Here are the four lucky listeners who have won, and their responses:
Parmjeet Singh
I want to watch this movie to learn how the gold rush shaped Australian history and to see the struggle of Indian/Afghani cameleers in those days. This piece of art seems to be a document rather than just a movie.
Sandaldeep Singh
The reason I want to watch the movie is to better understand the contribution made by Asian immigrants, including Afghans and Sikhs to the development of Australia in it early days. This is a story which is largely unacknowledged and not overtly called out, but it is great to see the story being portrayed on the big screen now.
Amanjot Kaur
This movie seems to be too interesting as it can help to see the story of migrants, migration is not an easy process, it’s a journey of a lot of challenges to grab the right opportunities. This movie attracts me to see the contribution of various individuals to build Australia as a successful multicultural nation, as it’s a mixture of individuals from various cultural backgrounds. How they cooperate with each other in different circumstances in every sphere of life, especially in 19th century when resources were limited with less facilities. Would love to watch this movie.
Ramanjit
I am emailing regarding the Facebook post regarding The Furnance movie. I want to watch the movie to see the portrayal of Afghan and Indian immigrants' role and contribution 19th century Australia and its progression.
Congratulations Parmjeet, Sandaldeep, Amanjot and Ramanjit - your double passes were emailed to you on Monday. Do let us know how you enjoyed the film.
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition. Stay tuned for more giveaways from SBS Punjabi.
