Scott Morrison has brought the curtains down to arguably the most suspenseful political drama in the history of Australian politics in the recent years.
‘Sco Mo’ as he is commonly referred to, has become the newest and the 30th Prime Minister of Australia by defeating former Housing Minister Peter Dutton, drawing to an end a week-long slugfest that boils down to two main things- Malcolm Turnbull is out and Scott Morrison is now steering the wheel.
And reactions to this new development are coming in fast and (even) furious.

“Sco Mo was our best bet. Now, at least we will have a strong leader at the helm,” Ravideep Singh who describes himself as an “ardent fan” of the Liberals told SBS Punjabi.
“Hail Scott Morrisson!” said Daman Deep who has been glued to the TV since the Liberals literally started spilling their beans.
And amidst these rapturous reactions came another from one of our regular listeners Deep Dhaliwal, who gave a very humdrum response to Mr Morrison’s victory.
“He (Scott Morrison) is not bad,” said Mr Dhaliwal who believed the choice was between the bad and the worse.
“I agree with him. I was way too frustrated with (Malcolm) Turnbull. And I think Peter Dutton is a racist. He is always pushing anti-migrants policies,” added Mr Dhaliwal.

Resonating with the anti-Dutton sentiment was another one of our listeners Sandeep Randhawa who told SBS Punjabi that “Morrison doesn’t have guts. At least Turnbull was a decision maker. But then again, anyone is better than Peter Dutton,” told Sandeep Randhawa.
Meanwhile, there were also those who expressed their resentment.
“This is a complete disaster,” said Atif Rizvi.
“I think there should be a re-election. There is a lot of in-fighting wihin the Liberal Party. They are not doing anything for Australia, but are just interested in advancing their personal ambitions,” added Mr Rizvi.
“I am already packing my bags and heading off to New Zealand, said Gaurav Dua.
Many of our respondents also sounded frustrated with the recent leadership crisis playing out in Canberra.
“What the hell is happening in the Parliament,” said Shivinder Sandhu when we asked him for his opinion.
“This is the sixth prime minister in 11 years. This is like the real-time House of Cards, in fact we have surpassed it,” added Mr Sandhu who told us that his head was “boiling with frustration” over the ongoing “circus” in the federal Parliament.
“When we vote, we vote for the leader. And this is not what we voted for..instability and personal ambition is what we have witnessed in the House lately,” said Satwinder Sachdeva.
But amidst all this mayhem, life hasn’t changed one bit for Amandeep Singh who told SBS Punjabi that he was “indifferent” to the political changes happening in the center.

“It doesn’t make any difference to who becomes what. In my opinion, every one of these leaders is same.”
“I will be happy with anyone who works for the migrants, makes it easier for them to settle down in this country and ensures a better life for each one us,” said Mr Singh.
