An Indian film actress has proposed a unique idea to stop women suicides in India.

Rakhi Sawant has requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban ceiling fans from homes. Sawant said most women commit suicide by hanging themselves with ceiling fans.

Holding a ceiling fan in her hand during a press conference in Mumbai, she said banning ceiling fans from homes is more important than chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

“Banning ceiling fans is more important than chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ because many daughters and daughters-in-law are committing."

Ms. Sawant urged people to use a table fan or an air conditioner instead of a ceiling fan.

“Whoever loves their daughter, I appeal to them to remove fans from their homes. Instead, keep a table fan or an AC,” she said.

A unique idea, indeed. And this is how people reacted to this proposal.
