Tarneit is among the most affordable areas in Melbourne with a sizeable presence of Indian- Australians choosing to call it their home.

Cr. Khan’s upcoming 16-bedroom residence has been dubbed as ‘InTAJ Mahal’ by some, a home definitely large enough to accommodate his wife and five children.

Cr. Intaj Khan hopes to move to his imposing mansion sometime next year.

The announcement to spend $9.5 million on a residential property in Tarneit raised quite a few eyebrows.

“Some people have said ‘You’d have to be an idiot to spend $9.5 million in the west, you’ll never get that money back,” says Cr. Khan.

“But why would I go to Brighton or Toorak? You’re not going to get a 10-acre block in Toorak,” he told Domain.
