Two of India’s biggest airports have been adjudged the best airports in World in the latest Airport Service Quality rankings.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport have jointly bagged the honour of being the best airports in the world in the 40 million plus passengers category.
The rankings have been released by the Airports Council International.
“The award demonstrates DIAL’s strong focus on operational efficiencies and resilient approach towards service delivery. Thus, despite phenomenal YOY passenger growth, DIAL once again consolidates its position on the world aviation map,” The Times of India quoted I Prabhakara Rao, CEO, Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) as saying.

Delhi and Mumbai airports are not the only ones to shine on the world stage, some other Indian airports have also received high rankings in other categories.
The Lucknow airport has been raked the best in the 2-5 million passengers per annum category. Hyderabad airport topped the 5-15 millioncategory, while the Cochin, Kolkata and Pune jointly bagged the third place.
In the 15-25 million category, Bangalore and Chennai airports finished at the second and the third position respectively.
Indore and Ahmedabad airports are among the fifteen first-time winners this year.
The ASQ is a worldwide programme to survey passengers at the airport on their day of travel. The programme measures passengers’ views of 34 key performance indicators, covering 74% of the world’s top 100 busiest airports.
The 2017 program surveyed 600,000 passengers at 343 airports in 84 countries.
