A 25-year-old financier Hardev Singh was shot dead in broad daylight in Longowal, Sangrur, on Thursday morning by a group of gangsters led by Dalvinder Singh who is also known as Babli Randhawa. Hindustan Times reported that Dalvinder was recently released from jail on bail.

It is said that the financier had lent Rs 5 Lack to Dalvinder and there was a dispute between the two regarding the money.

Eyewitnesses have reported that the incident took place around 10 am at the start of business in the market. They said that Hardev Singh was crossing through the market when five men approached him on motorcycles. They put a pistol to his dead and shot five bullets. The witnesses also reported that after killing Hardev, the assailants made sure that Hardev was dead and then did a little dance to celebrate. They also challenged the police to catch them.

According to reports, the accused is a local gangster who was out of jail on bail. “It’s a barbaric act and we won’t hand over the body to police until they arrest the main accused,” he said.

Police have identified Dalvinder’s accomplices as Aman Singh, Nancy, Varinder Singh and Suraj.

After committing the crime, Dalvinder Singh, alias Babli Randhawa, uploaded four videos on his Facebook page, taking responsibility for the crime and celebrating the murder by joining in the chorus of a song, “Maare hik vich fire Jat ne”
