Sandeep Singh was visiting India from New Zealand when he was found dead in a hotel room in Punjab under suspicious circumstances. Sandeep, who hailed from Jamalpur village near Bhogpur, Punjab, had gone to India in December 2016 to attend his brother’s wedding.

The Indian Weekeder has reported that Mr Singh’s family went to Jalandhar city with him on February 8, from where he was to catch a bus to Delhi to board his flight back to New Zealand. But when he did not reach New Zealand on time, his family got worried and on investigating, found out that Sandeep, in fact, never boarded the flight and had rather, returned to Jalandhar on the very same day. It was found that upon arriving back in Jalandhar, Sandeep had rented a room in Hotel Grand Horizon without telling anyone or making any contact with his family.

It’s been reported that Sandeep ordered tea on the morning of February 11 and in the afternoon when the cleaning staff went to clean his room, they did not get any response. When the staff opened the room with a master key, they found Sandeep Singh’s dead body inside.

Police is treating the death as suspicious, but there might be a sad twist to the story.

On of Sandeep’s friends in Auckland is apparently of the opinion that Sandeep might have ended his life on his own. According to reports, Sandeep had failed to renew his work visa in New Zealand and was devastated by it. His post-graduate job search visa had ended on March 31, 2016 and he was on an interim visa till September 2016. Failure to get his visa renewed had meant that he would not have been allowed to stay in the country any longer. He used to work in Pak’ n Save store in Auckland.

Sandeep’s friend reportedly said that Sandeep did not have the courage to tell his family about his situation and felt that the family will be shattered to hear the news as they had put all their life savings to send him to New Zealand for giving him a bright and successful future in New Zealand.

Sandeep’s family was unaware of this information.
