In a rude reminder of how believing everything said on social media to be true can be dangerous, a policeman in Delhi has demanded compensation for defamation through social media.
In a short video clip, PK Salim (50) was trying to find his way through a train coach, and appeared to be in a 'drunken stupor'.
This misleading video went viral and was watched thousands of times on different social media channels.
The video was circulated on social media in August last year, and a day later, Salim was suspended from Delhi police.
It later emerged that he was not drunk, but had suffered a stroke.
According to Salim's medical report, he was suffering from partial paralysis and he had suffered a blackout when he was on the train.
The Delhi police constable has now approached the highest court of India to demand compensation for the humiliation he has suffered, Daily Mail reported.
Delhi police reinstated Salim in November last year, but due to the misleading viral video he is still thought to have been drunk on the day of the incident.
