India wins 2016 Kabaddi World Cup

India beats Iran in a clash of kabaddi titans. This is the third World Cup title for Indian kabaddi team. On all three occassions they defeated Iran in the final.

India lifts the World Cup for third time in a row after 40 minutes of ferocious kabaddi.

It was a fitting stage for the marquee clash of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup as the two heavyweights – India and Iran – squared off against each other.

With the ultimate prize at stake, an Ajay Thakur-inspired India overcame the stiff challenge posed by their powerful opponents by a 38-29 margin.

For India, Ajay Thakur was the marquee man with 12 points and saw good support from Nitin Tomar from the bench with six points.

Tense and tactical with sublime moments of excellence, it was a match truly worthy of a final.

Besides the two finalists, Kenya won the award of Emerging Team of 2016 Kabaddi World Cup.: Kenya

Jang Kun Lee (Republic of Korea) was awarded the Most Valuable Player of 2016 Kabaddi World Cup.
