Indian businessman allegedly dumped girlfriend in Australia, held

Police have arrested a 32-year-old Indian businessman on the complaint lodged by a woman who alleged that she was sexually abused for two years on the pretext of marriage.

A Noida man has allegedly dumped his girlfriend in Australia to get rid of her following heavy losses in his business in Noida Sector 70, Times Now has reported.

The woman told police that she also invested in the man's mobile phone company but was given no returns.

She further said that the businessman, identified as Laxmikant, convinced her to sell one of her flats and made her invest Rs 10 lakh (app $20,000) in his company.

It is reported that in the last month, businessman identified as Laxmikant took his girlfriend to Australia on a business trip.

"The couple lived together for around 20 days in Australia. However, suddenly Laxmikant returned to India without informing her," said Jitendra Kumar from the Police Station, Noida.

The woman in her police statement stated that she did not have sufficient money to stay in Australia and somehow managed to return to India.

“The accused even refused to identify me," the woman said in the FIR.

On Friday, the woman registered a case against him accusing him of outraging her modesty.

"On the complaint, a case was registered under Section 354 of the IPC. The accused was arrested on Sunday. He has been sent to judicial custody. We are investigating the case with all angles," said Police.
