An Indian man filming a wild brawl in a western suburb of Melbourne was subjected to a vicious racial slur.

Knives were pulled out in Footscray over a complaint about a pet cat that neighbours believed was malnourished.

"I will cut your %^$# throat mate", the woman threatened her neighbour.

Baljinder Singh was called an "Indian dog" as he recorded the woman threatening her neighbours with a knife. A pot was thrown at home that landed in his room smashing the glass.

Baljinder told 7 News he has never experienced anything like this in his life before.

For residents in the neighbourhood, the incident is nothing out of ordinary. They say such violent feuds are a routine in this particular street.
