A woman and a child were found dead in Pascoe Vale in Melbourne’s north on Sunday afternoon.

The bodies of the 39-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter were discovered at around 5:30 pm when the woman’s husband arrived home.

A neighbour in Ashkanasy Avenue has told Herald Sun that the man is Indian and has lived in the area for many years. He also said that the man's Nepalese wife had arrived only four to five years ago.

Mohammed Assaad said he ran outside after hearing the man screaming.

“He came home, he walked inside and then came out and just started screaming,” said Mr Assaad.

Though the cause of the deaths has not been determined yet but police say they are not looking for anyone else in this connection with this incident.

The deceased are yet to be formally identified.

A nearby shop owner told Fairfax Media that the woman used to visit her shop sometimes with her three-year-old daughter and “they seemed happy”.

Police will prepare a report for coroner.
