An 18-year-old Indian student has faced a Sydney court over allegations of approaching two young kids in a busy park in the city’s western suburb.
Sachin Sharma, who arrived in Australia on a student visa less than a week before the incident occurred, appeared in the Burwood Local Court last week.
According to the NSW Police, the teenager allegedly held the hand of a three-year-old child for a short period of time and then picked-up a two-year-old from a see-saw before placing the child back on the swing when confronted by parents, in Mona Park in the western suburb of Auburn, on June 29.
He was reportedly filmed while exiting the park.
The parents of the children immediately notified the police who attended the park to speak with the mother and other witnesses.
Mr Sharma was later arrested from the vicinity and taken to the Auburn police station where he was charged with two counts of common assault.
He was granted conditional bail and was ordered to surrender his Indian passport and stay away from the park, reported 7News.
Mr Sharma will next appear in the court on August 8.
