An Indian student has been left with a fractured eye socket after he was allegedly attacked by an intruder on Tuesday night.
Prabhjeet Sandhu said he was attacked while returning to his apartment in Mandurah, south of Perth.
The 28-year-old management student said he had asked a resident in the apartment block to turn down the loud music he was playing. He was then allegedly followed to his apartment and assaulted.
“He started punching me so badly, I don’t know what he was wearing. He hit me with something in the head,” Mr Sandu told 7 News.
“I’m still in shock … I can’t even live here anymore,” Mr Sandhu said.
“I can’t even see properly from my eye.”
Mr Sandhu said he had to run and lock himself up in his bedroom.
“He started bashing on the door, then after a few minutes the other guy came in and just said ‘let’s go, let’s go’,” he said.
Mr Sandu who also works as a part-time Uber driver has been left without an income because of his inability to drive due to his injured eye.
He told 7 News that he is too traumatised to remain in Australia and is making plans to return to India.
Police have charged a 25 year old man from Beaconsfield with assault occasioning bodily harm who has appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
