Nearly 150 Indian students are set to stage a second protest in less than a month against their deportation from New Zealand. The aggrieved students have planned a demonstration in Auckland on Monday evening. Earlier, they organised a protest on September 3.
Several Indian students have received deportation notices following detection of fraud in their student visa applications. The students have maintained their innocence claiming they were unaware of the fraud committed by their India-based agents.
But New Zealand’s Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce says the ultimate responsibility of what is being submitted on their behalf rests on the students.
The protest organisers told TVNZ thet despite an outcry of support from all quarters, the government has not made any efforts to deliver justice to the Indian student.
Earlier, India’s High Commissioner in New Zealand, Sanjiv Kohli had come out in support of the students and demanded action against the education providers and their agents who allegedly committed fraud.
The students will protest outside a meeting attended by National MP Dr Paramjeet Parmar and Finance Minister Bill English, TVNZ reported.
