Indian woman fights off armed robber with a hammer

Burke county police say they have arrested the 17-year-old robber after identifying him with the help of the video footage.

An Indian-origin woman has fought off an armed robber with a hammer, forcing him to flee. The incident occurred in Georgia in the United states and the whole incident was caught on surveillance camera.

WRDW has reported that Bhumika Patel was working in the in store on Tuesday when a hooded man walked to her at the counter with an item. Everything looked normal until the man asked her to hand over all the cash in the drawer.

After exchanging a few words, the man pulled out a revolver and pointed it towards her. 

But, Bhumika was determined not to be a victim of an armed robbery. She fought the armed man with bare hands, then pulling out a hammer at the robber, forcing him to run for his life. 

Bhumika told WRDW that choice for her was simple. And she decided not to give in. 

She first fought him with bare hands, then grabs the cash register and hits him with it, and ultimately getting hold of a hammer. 

While fighting the 17-year-old whom the police have arrested, Bhumika broke her three nails and suffered a minor scratch.
