An Indian woman on a student visa in New Zealand has told 1News that she was offered just $9 an hour for work. he would have to work 50 to 60 hours a week. The woman is allowed to work just 20 hours in a week due to her visa condition.

She claimed her would be employer told her she would be paid $10 an hour. But if she needed help with getting residency in the country, the pay rate would drop to $9 an hour.
The woman whose identity was not disclosed, recorded the conversation with the employer when she went for an interview. She said she has chosen to speak out because she doesn’t want to see other people in the similar situation.
1 News reports that the Labour Inspectorate in New Zealand has received a complaint about the employer and is now investigating, but can't comment further.
Fines of up to $50,000 for an individual or over $100,000 for a company are possible in such situations.
