In a bizarre case, a live cockroach was pulled out of a woman’s nostril that had been sitting in her skull near the brain.
42-year-old Selvi went to the doctor with a “weird” sensation around her nose and eyes.
She was referred to the local government hospital in Chennai where doctors finally managed to take out the cockroach.
Salvi was asleep at night when she felt something crawling inside her nostril. Before she tried to brush it aside, it had already gone inside.
After nasal endoscopy, the doctors saw a cockroach sitting on the skull between her eyes.

“This is the first such case I have seen in my three decades of practice,” Dr M N Shankar, head, ENT department at the hospital told The New Indian Express.
The woman said she was in severe pain an didn’t exactly know what was causing it.
“I could not explain the feeling but I was sure it was some insect. There was a tingling, crawling sensation. Whenever it moved, it gave me a burning sensation in my eyes,” she was quoted as saying.
The doctors say if the cockroach had died, it could cause infection and lead to damage to Selvi’s brain.
“It was sitting in the skull base, between the two eyes, close to the brain. If left inside, it would have died before long and the patient would have developed infection which would have spread to the brain,” Dr Shankar told TNIE.
