A 41-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the charge of negligent driving occasioning death at the Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
According to the NSW police, Vijay Kumar was exiting a Coles Express service station on Victoria Road when his car collided into a 54-year-old woman, while she was walking back to her car at around 8 am on December 4, last year.
Mr Kumar, a father of two, was reportedly driving a Honda Civic sedan when he struck into the victim, who was identified as Merryn Bertus, the mother of a popular cricketer, Nick Bertus, who represents NSW.
Ms Bertus sustained serious head injuries after she was knocked over and her head hit into the concrete, reported the police.
She was rushed to the Westmead Hospital, where she later passed away.
The accused, who reportedly works as a property manager in Sydney was later taken to the hospital for mandatory testing.
The matter was adjourned for hearing on February 19, where he will be sentenced.
