A Melbourne man is missing at sea along with his two friends after a fishing boat they were on board sank off the coast of Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
Praneel Nand- a Fijian-born Australian citizen was on a fishing trip with his three friends when their boat capsized in rough seas. One man was rescued after he was spotted by a rescue helicopter.
All the three missing men are employees of accountancy company KPMG in Port Moresby.
The company said it is in close contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs and local authorities.
"An extensive search and rescue operation is currently underway and we remain hopeful. We're in close contact with the families, and our hopes and prayers are for a successful rescue," Fairfax Media quoted a company spokeswoman as saying.
Fairfax Media reports that Mr Nand’s brother has flown to Port Moresby to help in the search operation.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is helping with aerial search operations off the coast of Port Moresby.
The ABC reported the Australian Defence Force, the Australian High Commission, the Royal Papua Yacht Club and local villagers were also involved in the search.
