Staff and customers have been evacuated from a Kmart store in Melbourne’s outer-east due to a bomb scare.
Police and the Bomb Response Unit have been called to the spot after a suspicious package was found in the staff room of the store in Burwood, 9 News reports.

A police spokesman told Fairfax Media that officers were called to Burwood One Shopping Centre on the Burwood Highway about 10am on Tuesday.

The bomb response unit is at the scene conducting a "safety check", he said.
A caller to radio station 3AW said the police bomb squad was at the store and had cordoned off the car park.
This is a developing story. More information is awaited.
