With only three matches remaining in group 2, only New Zealand have been able to book their semi-final berth so far. Australia, India and Pakistan
Australia, India and Pakistan are now fighting it out to be the secon semi-finalist. Bangladesh with no win in the tournament, has already been eliminated.
So far, not at their best, both Pakistan and Australia would like to come on top. While Australia would want all its players to fire up, Pakistan-having lost to New Zealand and India, will certainly pull all stops to win this match to keep its hopes alive.
Even if Australia loses tonight against Pakistan, its hopes of progressing to the semis will still be alive. But, Australia must beat India to get there.
Australia can't reach semi-finals if they fail to beat India even if they win against Pakistan tonight.
If Australia does manage to beat Pakistan, then it will be a virtual quarter-final match between India and Australia.
If the opposite happens, it will be a contest between India and Australia where the net run-rate will become a crucial factor.
Australian Players to watch for in tonight's game
With Shane Watson announcing his retirement ahead of the encounter, there are certainly high hopes from him.
Usman Khwaja will be playing his first international match against Pakistan, the country of his birth. He has so far shown remarkable consistency with the bat.
David Warner has done it several times in India playing at the top during IPL, however, his same heroics are much awaited playing at his recently changed batting position at no. 4.
