A 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs last month, according to a Victoria police media release.

Detectives from Knox Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team have been told that a man entered the Westfield Knox shopping centre in Wantirna South at around noon on January 2.

The man is alleged to have spoken to a female employee working at the store before making inappropriate comments and sexually assaulting her. She is believed to have moved away from the man who continued to harass her before he left the store, as per the report.

The victim was physically unharmed as a result of the incident.
