There are fears that 24 Punjabi youths have drowned trying to enter US illegally.

There are reports that a boat carrying 24 Punjabi youths has capsized near the South American city of Panama. These youths were trying to enter the US Illegally.

The information only came out when the families of two drowned youths from Kapurthala filed a complaint against the travel agents who arranged for their travel.

One of the complaints by the drowned youth's father read,"“The two agents, Harbhajan Singh and Kulwinder, who had promised to take my son to the US for Rs 24 lakh, had killed him by drowning him in the sea.”

One of the travel agents, Harbhajan Singh is in custody and the other, Kulwinder, is still o nthe run.

The families only got to know of the tragedy when a survivor from the capsized boat made a telephone call to them. The survivoe, Sonu from Jalandhar, was saved by a passing by boat and left at the US coast.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to intervene in the matter to bring justice to the victims and expose the human-trafficking racket.
