A young man lost his life as a house party turned fatal in Auckland, New Zealand during the early hours of Saturday.
25-year-old Reginald Sharma died soon after the police arrived upon receiving reports of rowdiness and fighting in the Three Kings suburb around 3 am. The police found Mr. Sharma in a critical condition in the driveway of the residential property.
Police and ambulance staff attempted to resuscitate the 25-year old man. However, he died at the scene.
"When police arrived people had begun to disperse, however, someone has asked police for assistance with an injured person at the address, who was given CPR. This has been unsuccessful and the man has passed away at the address'," a New Zealand Police spokeswoman said.
Police are treating the death as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing. It’s believed a group of three men stayed behind to help Mr. Sharma and put him in recovery position while others dispersed from the property.
"These three stayed with the young man and continued to assist him after others had left the address,” a police officer said. "This group will know who they are and we need their help.”
Police say Mr. Sharma was one in a number of separate groups convened at the property after they first met up at a bar.
A cousin of Mr. Sharma told Kevina Tonga news that his Tongan-Fiji Indian parents are devastated by the death of their son.
