Officials say threats have been made to schools in two states, sparking police operations just days after students returned from holidays.
Police confirmed schools in Penrith, Richmond, Mona Vale, Ambarvale, Woolooware, Ulladulla and Lake Illawarra have been affected.
The Department of Education released a statement today saying each school is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its students and no students are in danger.
It follows phone call threats to Victorian schools*, which have been evacuated, and similar calls at overseas schools in the past 24 hours.
The ABC is reporting that a Victoria Police operation involving schools in Berwick, Morwell, Lakes Entrance and Sale was ongoing.
A school at Cowes on Phillip Island was also evacuated.
Hundreds of students at Sale Primary were relocated to another school were being collected by parents.
It was the second day back at school for many of the students.
A Victorian Education Department spokesman said the incident was taken seriously.
"The safety and wellbeing of our students is always our number one priority," he said.
"All schools have emergency management plans which include evacuation plans, and the affected schools have enacted their plans this morning."
