Though she is a member of the Liberal Party but has chosen to run this by-election as an Independent candidate.

Ms Rana told SBS Punjabi that she has received permission from the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party to use the phrase ‘Liberal Independent’ to describe her Enfield candidacy.

“Living in this electorate for over six years, I have a very good understanding of both the need of this area and the disappointment of its residents in their outgoing MP, Labor’s John Rau,” she said.

“In my candidacy, I see immense opportunity to do positive things that will help the electors of Enfield in their daily lives and into the future. That is why I am running to be their representative in our State Parliament.”

She says she is looking forward to a positive campaign, meeting as many people as possible, learning from them and tackling many challenges.

“We want better and more essential services. Enfield needs more funding to help struggling local sporting clubs with their incredibly positive youth programs.
