South Australia is set to allow ride-sharing services such as UberX to operate legally in the state.

Premier Jay Weatherill and Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan are expected to reveal the change on Tuesday as part of the government's response to an independent review of the taxi industry.

It's understood UberX will be allowed to operate from July 1, but it's not known how taxi drivers will be compensated.
