According to The Indian Express, a court in UAE announced its decision on the 1st of December. Another man, charged in the same case, has been spared from death sentence but has been given a fine of Rs 2 Lakhs.
All these man are in their early twenties from poor families and working in UAE as plumbers, electricians or carpenters etc. Their families are urging the state and central government to bring them back to India. The families have met AAP and BJP leaders and also asked the help of the Chairman of Punjab State SC Commission, but to no success.

Now, they have approached a Dubai-based hotelier SP Singh Oberoi. Mr Oberoi is known to save death row convicts and has, in the past, saved around 17 youths from Punjab and Haryana. According to Indian Express, Mr Oberoi has already files an appeal in the High Court in Abu Dhabi.
These youths are from different parts of Punjab like, Barnala, Nawanshahar, Hoshiarpur, Moga, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala and Batala. They were booked under the case of murder of a Pakistani national in a brawl over bootlegging.
